Google has confirmed that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are set to launch on October 19th. This isn’t surprising, as it had been widely rumoured as the announcement would happen on the 19th.

Google Pixel 6 and Pixels 6 Pro launch date

In case you missed it, the search giant officially released Android 12 to the AOSP repo on Monday. But the Pixel devices have not been updated to the new version yet. Google has scheduled an online event for its yearly Android Developer’s Summit, to be held from October 27-28. It is likely that Android 12 will begin rolling out to the Pixel series from the 27th. Rumours suggest that the Pixel 6 series will start shipping on that date as well.

Coming back to the topic, Google has an interactive teaser page up on its site, to promote the upcoming devices. It shows off the design of the phone, this time the front panel of the Pixel 6. It has minimal bezels, with a slight chin, and hole-punch camera at the top center of the screen for the selfie camera. The 5G signal icon on the status bar confirms that the device will support 5G mobile networks.

Both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are powered by Google Tensor, the company’s first in-house mobile processor. Not much is known about the chipset aside from the fact that it supports A.I and offers an additional level of security, along with the existing Titan M security module. The company had previously shared press images of the devices’ back panel, with a unique camera array design.
