Poco F3 GT heating issue

Poco recently announced its MediaTek Dimensity 1200 powered flagship phone called the Poco F3 GT in India. And it appears that the device is in a bit of a hot mess, quite literally. The Poco F3 GT heating issue is real.

Poco acknowledges the Poco F3 GT overheating issue

Users have been reporting that they were experiencing a heating issue on their Poco F3 GT. Complaints from users indicate that the phone tends to heat up while it is being charged, and also when they were playing games on the phone.

Poco’s stance on the Poco F3 GT overheating problem

A post made by the company on the Poco Community Forums has acknowledged the problem. The statement says that the issue affects a small volume of users, who have the software version MIUI 12.5.4.0.RKJINXM installed on their Poco F3 GT.

NDTV observes that this shouldn’t be happening on a device that has a vapour chamber for cooling the thermal levels, and an 8-layered graphite material to dissipate the heat.

Is there a way to fix the Poco F3 GT Heating issue?

There is no workaround for the Poco F3 GT overheating problem right now, so you will need to wait for Poco to investigate the problem, and release a software update that solves the issue.

Redmi Note 10 Pro heating issue

This problem is not limited to the Poco F3 GT. We have also been observing a similar heating issue on our Redmi Note 10 Pro, which is on the firmware version MIUI 12.5.4.0.RKFINXM.

The phone heats up quickly while using it for regular tasks like WhatsApp, Telegram, Email, Browsing etc, and the screen gets slightly warm. Playing a game or watching a video for half an hour or so makes the display very warm. Though it does not get to the point that it is too hot to the touch, or to shut down the phone, the Redmi Note 10 Pro heating issue makes it difficult to use the device.

Upon monitoring the temperature using the CPU-Info app while playing games, we noticed that the Redmi Note 10 Pro reaches a thermal level of 40 °C for the battery, compared to an idle temperature level of 31° C. The DevCheck Hardware and System Info app, however, indicates that the thermal levels were in the 48 degrees Celsius range for the processor’s cores. This clearly indicates that the device is using too much power.
