For the last 1-2 years, Mobile service providers in India have faced the onslaught from Jio by offering similar plans with unlimited calls, data at affordable prices yet Jio mobile subscriptions continue to rise. Today, Airtel has introduced a new program “Airtel Thanks” to counter the “Jio Prime” subscriptions which offer cashbacks up to 100% of the recharge value and other benefits. Jio Prime subscriptions are valid for one year at a price of Rs. 99 which automatically got renewed this year for free for existing subscriber. The Airtel Thanks program at the moment is free, but we can’t say the same for future.

Airtel Thanks is an Invite only programs for selected Airtel Postpaid and prepaid mobile customers based on various factors such as recharge packs, years of association etc. Eligible customers are auto-enrolled and will see a thanks tile on Airtel App & web. Some of the benefits associated with this program are:

  • 1 Year Amazon Prime Subscription at no extra cost
  • Free Handset damage protection & mobile security
  • Free Addon connections
  • Cashback on Recharges
  • Premium customer support and many more
  • Subscription to Airtel TV and Wynk apps

Not all these benefits will be available to every “Airtel thanks” members and may vary based on different factors. To check out whether you are invited to this program or not, just open the Airtel App on your mobile. If you are already invited, it will display a message that “You are a premier member” along with your benefit details as shown in the screenshot. The Airtel Thanks benefits may change if you change your plans or do lower/ recharges.

Out of these, the cashback coupons will be made available to consumers on recharging with Rs. 399 / 448 unlimited recharge pack through My Airtel app. These coupons will be similar to what “Jio Prime” members get in the denomination of Rs.50 that can be used for future recharges.

It would be interesting to watch how this stiff competition between service providers like Airtel, Vodafone and Jio shapeup. Stay tuned at Androidpure and we will keep you updated.
