The world’s leading mobile chipset manufacturer, Qualcomm, has officially unveiled its latest and greatest offering, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor.

qualcomm snapdragon-821

The chipset is based on its predecessor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which powers most of 2016’s flagship phones including the OnePlus 3, the Xiaomi Mi5, the Le Eco Le Max 2, the LG G5, the HTC 10, the Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, to name a few.

Snapdragon 821 isn’t miles head of the Snapdragon 820, a fact, which Qualcomm itself mentions in its official blog post announcement. The Sndapgragon 821, is instead a minor upgrade, which offers a 10% better perfromeance over the 820. The 821 Soc also has a Qualcomm Kryo quad-core CPU, which can be clocked up to 2.4GHz, in terms of speed.

Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 821 will be powering some new phones in the latter half of 2016. We speculate that the 821 Soc will be powering the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 which will be unveiled, in the first week of August. The same can be said about the Google phones, the HTC Nexus Sailfish, and HTC Nexus Marlin, which have been rumored to come with the newest chipset.

But neither of the three will be the first to come with the new Soc, for that honor, has already been taken by the new ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe ‏(ZS570KL)‏, which was announced today, and is powered by a 2.4GHz Snapdragon 821 processor. The phone’s chipset comes with an Adreno 530 GPU, which is the same as the one in the Snapdragon 820 SoC
