Moto G4 Plus will be updated to Android N and Android O, according to the Amazon India listing

It appears that Motorola is using a special tactic to attract potential buyers of its latest budget phone, the Moto G4 Plus. The phone which was launched a week ago in India, is being sold exclusively via Amazon India.

Moto G4 Plus Android N

And it is the listing on the online retailer’s website which has some special information. Motorola says that the Moto G4 Plus will be updated to Android N and Android O.

Basically that is two tears of updates, which some of the major OEMs provide. But it is worth noting that the Lenovo owned company has failed to live up to its promise of updates in the past, with the Moto X, Moto E, and some redditors claim that their Moto X Pure is still stuck with the February Security Patch from Google, as opposed to the May security patch which Nexus devices and some phones from other OEMs have.

Moto G4 Technical Specifications

  • Display: 5.5 inch Full HD 1080p,  401ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, Nano-coating
  • Operating System: Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • Processor: 64-bit 1.5GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (8 x ARM Cortex A53)
  • GPU: Adreno 405 @550 MHz
  • Storage: 16GB internal storage
  • Memory: 2GB of RAM
  • Rear Camera: 13 Megapixels with PDAF
  • Front Camera: 5 Megapixels
  • Battery: 3000 mAh with Turbo Power fast charging
  • Connectivity: 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
  • Dual SIM: 4G + 3G

Google is expected to ship Android N in the third quarter of 2016, while Android O will likely be released in the same time next year.

Given the popularity of the Moto G series in India, and the fact that Moto is publicly advertising Android N and Android O updates  for the Moto G4 Plus, we feel that this could prove to be a successful tactic.
