HTC One M10 will come in two variants: a Qualcomm 820 and a MediaTek

Popular HTC device info leaker, LlabTooFeR, has spilled the beans on the upcoming HTC flagship device, the One M10.

The Russian says that the phone, called the Perfume, will come in two variants.

The first one will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and will be sold in the US and Europe. The other variant, sadly, is a MediaTek powered device which will be sold in China and South East Asia. Both phones are touted to run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with HTC Sense 8.0 UI, out of the box.

If true, this will be the first time HTC will be selling two SoC variants of its flagship in different regions. HTC has been reportedly performing rather badly in sales, with the One M9 (pictured above) failing to give the company a boost in profits, so a MediaTek device with an affordable price could certainly help things go the right way. But die-hard fans of the M franchise may find the lack of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor lackluster, and may skip it altogether. So this is a rather risky gamble.

A more wiser move would be to price it aggressively to compete with the likes of OnePlus and Xiaomi devices, something which HTC, Sony, LG and Samsung have failed to do in the past.

Further adding mystery to the device, is a rumour which suggests that the HTC One M10 will not be launched at the MWC 2016. Instead it will be launched in a dedicated event. This does seem to back up the theory of having two processor variants.
