Samsung has hit out at a rumor, which claimed that it hired people to pose as fans during the launch event of its flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S6, in Shanghai, China.

A Shanghai based news-company, The Paper, reported that Samsung had hired around 400-500 people to act as fans during the event.

(You can read about it at English news website,Want China Times, which is linked at the bottom of this article.)

That amounts to almost half of the attendees, the final headcount of which totaled to over 1000 people. Each of the “hired” fans were reportedly paid 30 yuan (US$4.80) for spending an hour at the event.

Samsung dismissed the report in a blog post at its website, saying:

Samsung investigated a media report on April 3 that claimed people were temporarily hired and paid to attend the Galaxy S6 launching event in Shanghai, China and later found that the story was totally groundless and bogus.

The company writes that none of the 1,100 attendees, were hired or paid to attend the event. It also says that all the attendees, which included consumers and industry officials, had been formally invited to the event.

Samsung also writes, that it is considering to request The Paper, to issue a correction regarding their statement, and is currently  investigating the source of this rumor.
