HTC has launched a new variant of its 2014 flagship phone, the HTC One M8.
The new device is called the HTC One M8S, and is similar to the M8.
The M8S’ body is an all-metal build, and it sports the same 5″ Full HD (1080P) display. The phone has 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage with support for a micro SD card for expandable storage. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense 6 UI on top.
The major differences lie in the chipset and the camera.
The M8S is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 614 processor, instead of the Snapdragon 801 that the M8 had. Gone is the Ultrapixel camera, which is replaced by a 13 Megapixel shooter with Dual Lens.
Both the M8 and the M8S weigh 160g, but the latter is 0.15mm thicker than the former. The e M8S also has a bigger battery at 2,840 mAh.
The HTC One M8S will be available in three colours: Gold, Gunmetal Grey and Silver. It will be available in Europe, and retail in the UK for £379.99 (about $564 or Rs. 35,138) for the unlocked version SIM-free in the UK.
This is much cheaper than the M8 which originally retailed for £530 (about $787 or Rs. 48,982).
