Google has published the October 2026 Pixel Update Bulletin, which covers the Android 17 security patch now reaching Pixel phones. The bulletin carries a security patch level of 2026-10-05 or later. Devices that report that date or newer have the fixes installed.

At the Pixel-bulletin level, Google lists eight CVEs. Six of those are specific to Google devices, and two sit in kernel components. That is the count sourced from Google’s own bulletin.
9to5Google puts the broader figure at 28 security issues plus six Google-device-specific fixes. That larger number appears to fold in the separate monthly Android Security Bulletin, which patches component-level AOSP code across the ecosystem. The two counts measure different things. It is worth citing the eight-CVE figure when you mean the Pixel bulletin specifically.
Functional fixes reported alongside the patch
Google’s bulletin points to a separate Pixel Community post for functional-fix detail. We could not locate that post at the time of writing. According to 9to5Google’s reporting, this month’s release addresses three issues:
- Keyboard — the virtual keyboard occasionally failing to appear in search fields.
- Audio — noise or distortion in the ringtone during certain VoIP calls.
- Camera — photos and videos occasionally saving in the wrong orientation.
9to5Google also reports build numbers in the CP3A.261005 and CD1A.261005 families. Those builds are not listed in the bulletin itself, which refers readers to Google’s factory image site instead. Treat them as reported rather than confirmed.

Pixel 6 and 6 Pro did already sit out the Android 17 QPR3 beta, as covered in our Android 17 QPR3 beta Pixel 6 cutoff story. Owners should plan for the tap to close rather than assume it will not.
Rollout timeline
Monthly Pixel patches roll out in waves rather than all at once. Expect it to land over the coming days, with carrier-locked units often trailing unlocked ones. You can check manually under Settings, then System, then Software updates, then System update. The patch level shown should read 2026-10-05 or later once installed.
