Samsung Galaxy S5, A3, A5 and S3 Neo also have their prices slashed in India

After slashing the price of the Samsung Galaxy S4 to Rs. 17,999, the company has reduced the prices of four more phones in India.

Its 2014 flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S5, the S3 Neo, and the recently launched A3 and A5 are the phones which had their prices cut.

The Galaxy S5 was launched a year ago for Rs. 51,500, and now retails at Rs. 31,999. The S3 which debuted at Rs. 25,499 now sells for less than half it’s price at just Rs 12, 499.

Samsung’s metal phones, the Galaxy A3 and A5, which were launched last month for Rs. 19,300 and Rs. 23,700, are now available for Rs. 17,900 and Rs. 20,900.

It looks like Samsung is desperately trying to regain it’s place in the Indian market, which is currently dominated by affordable devices from Xiaomi and Motorola. While the price cuts are a good move, Samsung needs to step up and bring affordable yet powerful devices to compete with its rivals, who also captivate their fans by providing OS updates, something which the company has notoriously failed to do for several phones, including the 2012 flagship, the Galaxy S3, which was never updated to Android KitKat.
