It has been over 60 days since the Moto G 2014 received the Android Lollipop update in the US.
Motorola was determined to beat Google in rolling out the update, even before the Nexus devices got them.
But it has been a terrible experience for other Moto users, ever since. Soak tests for the Moto G were released in Brazil and India early in December, yet there hasn’t been a sign of the official OTA arriving, until now.
A Motorola engineer, Luciano Carvalho, took to Google+ to reassure users that the updates are coming soon. You can read his post here. He confirmed that a soak test version, Android 5.0.2 has been rolled out in many Countries, to a limited number of people.
He said that Motorola is doing everything it can do fix bugs in the latest version of Android, before pushing it to users. The Motorola employee blamed former parent company Google, for not fixing bugs before launching 5.0, and he makes a valid point. Google does not acknowledge a bug in the Android OS unless a Nexus device is affected.

Moto products from 2014 and 2013 will be updated to Lollipop really soon.
Carvalho also advised Moto G and Moto X 1st Gen users to update to the latest version of the Motorola Updates Services app from Google Play.
So, it may not be long before Android Lollipop is available for the Moto G and X devices.
