SwiftKey Keyboard goes free, gets premium themes and Emoji prediction

Fans of SwiftKey Keyboard, we have some wonderful news for you.
SwiftKey Keyboard 5 Android

The popular mind reading keyboard app, has gone free for all Android users.

The app was updated to version 5 today and brings in quite a lot of changes. First up is the SwiftKey Store, which offers a collection of free and paid themes. Users of the paid version of the keyboard will get a Premier Pack with 10 premium themes worth $4.99, for free as part of their celebrations.

How to get the 10 themes for free:

  1. Long-press the settings icon on the bottom left row (with the 123 on it).
  2. Tap on themes.
  3. Tap on the “SwiftKey Store” button. You need a cloud account to connect to the SwiftKey Store
  4. You will see the Premier Pack option is FREE. Tap on it to get the 10 premium themes for free.

The keyboard now supports over 800 Emoji, on devices running Android 4.1 or above. And version 5 predicts Emojis too, you just have to type a relevant word and let the app do it’s magic. You need to enable the  ‘Emoji prediction’ feature, which can be found under Settings > Advanced. Take a look at an example of the Emoji prediction below.

The update also adds a much requested feature, the “Number row” to the main layout of the keyboard. No more long pressing keys or switching layouts, to enter numbers. Yay! You can enable/disable the Number row from Settings > Layout.

Additionally, the update also improves the overall learning ability, and the prediction engine to deliver better capitalization. Five new languages have been added to the app: Belarusian, Mongolian, Tatar, Uzbek and Welsh. Version 5 also improves the Flow Trail (the line which appears when you gesture, i.e Swipe)
