Miniclip releases a retro Hack ‘N Slash game called Spell Sword

Miniclip games are very popular amongst Android and iPhone users, not only are most of them free, but they are also quite good in terms of quality.Spell Sword

A quick look at the game’s features:

90 Missions.
Adjust the on-screen controls in the options.
9 Endless Arenas with High Score Leaderboards.
RPG elements and upgrades.
Retro Inspired Graphics and Gameplay.
Hats, Amulets, and Rings, oh my!
Universal – 1 Purchase for all your devices.

The UI and the game feature retro graphics that remind me of some good old platformers.  Swipe from right to left at the main screen to access different menus/options.  You can collect rupees and gold coins as you play missions to unlock new stuff. Rupees? Sounds familiar. LOL. (For those who don’t see the humour here, the Rupee is the official currency in India.)

As for the items in the game, they include Cards (which are basically pick-ups) of different powers, hats, amulets and rings, some of which are a bit pricey. But obviously like all of the Miniclip games, this one comes with in-app purchases too, which you can use to buy the in game items and it also removes the ads.

You have plenty of missions, 90 to be precise and the first few were a bit too easy, perhaps it would get harder as you progress. You can earn rewards for completing different missions. And there is also an endless mode which will keep you busy.Spell Sword Missions

There are also various achievements you can accomplish in the game. The music is quite good, suits the game rather well.Spell Sword Achievements

The gameplay is fairly easy, you move around with the virtual joystick on the bottom left, and  jump or attack with the buttons on the bottom right of the screen.Spell Sword Gameplay e

You can configure the control buttons by moving them around to your preference from the options screen. That’s fairly useful for setting up a good controller.  Or you could use the swipe controller if you don’t like the movement buttons.

Spell Sword is free to play, and you can download it from Google Play.
