µBlock adblocker add-on officially ported to Firefox for Android

A huge problem that the majority of Android users face are advertisements.

µBlock Firefox Android

Tech savvy users tend to use adblocking apps, like AdBlock Plus, AdAway, and other apps, some of which require root but work efficiently by blocking ads not just in your browser, but in all apps as well.

This is done by modifying the hosts file, in as system folder. Google, which relies on Ad-sense for making money, banned adblocking apps from the Play Store, but you can still find them on XDA or F-Droid or at the official websites of the apps.

Now, what if your phone or tablet isn’t rooted and still want to block ads? You can do so in browsers like Firefox , which support extensions or add-ons. One such add-on is called µBlock, which is also available on PC versions of Firefox and Chrome. It uses considerably less resources (RAM) than AdBlock Plus and other heavyweights.

The µBlock add-on has officially been ported to Firefox for Android. Here’s how you can get it:

1. Open the µBlock add-on page in Firefox for Android.

2. Scroll down till you see “View All Versions.”

3. The latest version is displayed on top. The current version is 0.9.1.0, tap the “Add to Firefox” button to install the add-on.

4. It will begin to download the add-on, and once it is done downloading, a small message will pop-up. Tap on install and the add-on will be installed on your device.
