Samsung’s First Smart Glasses Will Launch in November, Official Says

Samsung’s first pair of Android XR smart glasses now has a launch month. A Samsung official told The Korea Herald that the glasses will arrive in November 2026. That is a meaningful narrowing of the window, since Samsung had previously only said the glasses were coming later this year. The company has still not given a specific date, and no price has been shared.

What these Samsung smart glasses actually do

The important thing to understand is what is missing. These glasses have no display. There is no lens projection and no screen in front of your eye.

Instead they work through cameras, microphones and speakers, with Gemini doing the interpreting. Heavier AI processing is offloaded to a connected Galaxy phone rather than handled on the frames. In practice that makes them a phone accessory, not a standalone device. Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset, announced separately, is a different product entirely.

What we already knew

Most of the hardware details came out earlier this year, and we covered them in July. From our earlier report on the glasses’ privacy and durability details: the frames were designed with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. They run on Google’s Android XR platform. A Galaxy Watch can act as a gesture controller, and audio can route to Galaxy Buds.

That July coverage also described an LED indicator that lights up when the glasses are recording. An on-body sensor is meant to disable capture once the glasses are taken off. Both details came from Samsung rather than from independent testing.

Those safeguards are the right instinct, but the LED is the part worth watching. An indicator light only protects the people around you if they notice it. It is carrying a lot of weight on behalf of bystanders who never agreed to anything.

What is still missing

As of October 1, Samsung has not shared pricing or an exact launch date. It also isn’t yet clear which markets, India included, get them first.

Price is the detail that will decide how this lands. There is an obvious ceiling on what people will pay for a device that needs a phone nearby. Samsung is also arriving well after Meta in this category. Arriving late usually means competing on price, or on a feature nobody else has. For now we have a month and little else.
