Samsung has announced its flagship foldable phones. This is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5.
The main screen, aka the internal display is 6.7-inches in size. It is a Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels. The screen has a 120Hz Adaptive refresh rate (1~120Hz), a 22:9 Aspect Ratio, and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The device has a new Flex Hinge. The cover display on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is a 3.4-inches panel with a resolution of 720 x 748 pixels. The Super AMOLED screen supports 60Hz refresh rate, has a pixel density of 306 PPI, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The foldable phone runs on One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13, and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with an Adreno 740 GPU. It has 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB / 512 GB of storage.
The selfie lens on the front of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is a 10 megapixels snapper with an f/2.2 aperture, and an 85˚ FOV. The dual camera array on the rear panel of the phone consists of a 12 megapixels Ultra Wide Lens that has an f/2.2 aperture, 123˚ FOV, and a 12 megapixels Wide-angle Lens that supports Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), has an f/1.8 aperture, 83˚ FOV, and an LED Flash.
Samsung has packed a 3,700 mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Flip5. It supports 25W fast charging via a USB Type-C port, and is capable of delivering up to 50% charge in around 30 minutes. The smartphone also supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare.
Connectivity-wise, the foldable phone supports 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and GPS. Sensors on board the mobile include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an accelerometer, a barometer, a gyro sensor, a geomagnetic sensor, a hall sensor, a proximity sensor, and a light sensor. The device weighs 187g, measures 71.9 x 85.1 x 15.1mm when folded, and 71.9 x 165.1 x 6.9mm when unfolded. The Galaxy Z Flip5 has been rated IPX8 for Water Resistance.
