Redmi Note 8 Pro with MediaTek Helio G90T, 64MP camera, HDR display launched in India

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has been announced in India, with the Note 8. Here’s everything you need to know about the Pro variant

Redmi Note 8 Pro Aura design

The device runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie (will be updated to MIUI 11 soon), and is touted as a gaming phone. The Note 8 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T octa-core processor with a Mali-G76 GPU, paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The device has a liquid cooling system for dissipating the heat.

A dedicated microSD card slot supports up to up 256GB of additional memory. Xiaomi claims the Redmi Note 8 Pro has an AnTuTu benchmark score of 284872 points.

The Note 8 Pro is equipped with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with a water-drop notch that has a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and supports HDR. The bezels are quite small, resulting in a 91.4% screen to body ratio. It has a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back panel.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro boasts a 64MP primary camera with a Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, which has a 1/1.72″ sensor size, 1.6μm pixel size, an f/1.8 aperture, that is accompanied by an 8MP 120° ultra-wide angle lens, 1.12μm pixel size, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens that has an f/2.4 aperture, 2cm, 1.75μm pixel size.

The cameras are supported by an LED flash and support Electronic Image Stabilization. A 20MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture is housed in the water-drop notch for selfies. The Note 8 Pro is backed by a 4,500 mAh battery which charges over a USB Type-C port. The device is rated IP52 for splash resistance.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has been priced at Rs. 14,999 in India, for the 6GB/64GB variant. The 6GB/128GB variant will cost Rs. 15,999, while the 8GB/128GB version will cost Rs. 17,999 . The device will go on sale from October 21st on Amazon, Mi.com and Mi Home stores. The Note 8 will be available in Gamma Green, Halo White, and Shadow Black colours.
