June 2026 Android Drop: Fake Call Detection, Quick Share to AirDrop and a Digital Wardrobe

Your Android phone is about to get a little smarter and a little safer, and you won’t have to wait for a big software update to see it. Google has started rolling out the June 2026 Android Drop, its quarterly bundle of features that lands on phones you already own.

The theme this time is refreshingly practical: fewer gimmicks, more things you’ll actually use, scam-call protection, painless file sharing with iPhone friends, and a couple of genuinely handy AI tricks. Here’s what matters, and why.

Fake call detection: your phone can now spot a spoofed number

This is the headline feature, and the most useful. Scammers love to “spoof” a familiar number so your screen lights up with a name you trust. The Phone by Google app can now see through that.

Using a verified digital handshake over RCS in Google Messages, your phone quietly checks whether a call really comes from the contact it claims to be, and warns you when it doesn’t. It’s the kind of background protection you’ll never think about until it stops a fake “bank” call cold.

You’ll need Android 12 or newer, with Phone by Google, Contacts, and Google Messages (RCS switched on) at both ends. It’s rolling out this month, starting with Pixel phones.

Quick Share finally talks to AirDrop

Sharing a photo with an iPhone-toting friend has always meant a messaging app, email, or a cable. Not anymore. Quick Share now hands files straight to Apple’s AirDrop, so photos, videos, and documents jump across in a tap.

The only catch, for now, is the device list. It works on the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S24 families, the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 (plus last year’s Flip 6 and Fold 6), the OPPO Find X8 series, OnePlus 15, Honor Magic V6 and Magic 8 Pro, and the Xiaomi 17T Pro. If your phone isn’t on it yet, it almost certainly will be soon.

A Digital Wardrobe in Google Photos, and India makes the first cut

Google Photos is quietly turning your camera roll into a closet. The new Digital Wardrobe scans your pictures, picks out the clothes you’re wearing, and lets you mix, match, and even try outfits on virtually.

Here’s the bit worth flagging if you’re reading from India: the first wave covers the U.S., India, and Brazil. No “coming to your region later” wait this time. It needs Android 10 or newer and begins arriving next week.

The rest of the drop, in brief

Circle to Search can now read a whole outfit at once, circle a full look and it searches every piece together instead of one at a time. It started as a Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 exclusive; now any eligible Android 14+ phone gets it.

Google Play Books adds Book Insights, a Gemini-powered helper that recaps where you left off and answers questions about characters and themes, useful if you read in fits and starts.

Gboard picks up a fresh batch of Emoji Kitchen mashups (this round leans into bugs and tiny critters), and the Personal Safety app adds youth-focused tools: kids can show medical info and emergency contacts on the lock screen, with car-crash detection and location sharing.

When will it reach your phone?

Fake call detection, Circle to Search’s outfit search, Quick Share to AirDrop, and the new emoji combos are live now. The Photos Digital Wardrobe lands next week, and the Personal Safety additions follow over the coming weeks.

As with every Android Drop, the exact timing depends on your phone and region, so don’t worry if it all doesn’t appear at once, these things roll out in waves.
