Samsung has launched the Galaxy S26 FE at $699.99 in the United States, and it arrives with something none of its more expensive siblings had on day one: One UI 9. The S26 FE is the first phone in the Galaxy S26 lineup to ship with Samsung’s Android 17 skin out of the box, while S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra owners are still working through One UI 9 beta builds. It goes on sale at select US carriers on 3 September and at Samsung.com, carriers and retailers nationwide on 4 September, with a wider rollout starting 4 September in select markets.
Galaxy S26 FE price and availability
Samsung is selling the Galaxy S26 FE in two storage tiers, both with 8GB of RAM, and three colours: Pistachio, Blueberry and Graphite.

The two dates matter if you are shopping in the US. Carriers get a one-day head start on 3 September; Samsung’s own store and general retail follow on 4 September. Outside the US, Samsung’s global newsroom lists 4 September for select markets without naming them, and neither the US nor the global release mentions India pricing or an India on-sale date. Storage options, Samsung notes, can vary by carrier and region.
Samsung is bundling a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, which it values at $19.99 per month and which includes 5TB of cloud storage. Worth reading that for what it is: a promotional runway into a recurring subscription, not a permanent part of the phone. The 45W adapter needed to hit the advertised charging speeds is also sold separately.
Galaxy S26 FE specifications
The headline hardware is a 6.7-inch 120Hz panel, Samsung’s own Exynos 2500 silicon and a 4,900mAh battery in a 7.4mm, 193g body. The rear camera system is a triple array built around a 50MP main sensor with OIS, alongside a 12MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom.

One thing to flag on charging: Samsung’s own materials disagree with themselves. The body text of both the US and global press releases says the phone reaches “up to a 69% charge in around 30 minutes” with the 45W adapter, while the specification sheet attached to the US release says up to 65% in around 30 minutes. Treat the real figure as somewhere in that band rather than either number as settled, and note that 45W is competitive but no longer class-leading against the 67W-to-100W mid-rangers now shipping globally.
Software, AI features and support
Shipping with One UI 9 is the S26 FE’s genuine advantage, and Samsung is pairing it with a seven OS upgrades, seven years of security updates commitment — the same support window as the flagship S26 models, which is the strongest single argument for the phone at $699.99.
The AI feature list is largely inherited rather than exclusive. Now Brief, first seen on the Galaxy S25 series, now lets you build custom briefing cards from a prompt. Now Nudge, which surfaces suggested actions above the keyboard based on what is on screen, has been extended to select third-party apps and notifications — useful, but also a reminder that the feature works by reading your screen contents, so it is worth checking what it is allowed to see once you have set the phone up. Circle to Search can now identify multiple items in one image, Photo Assist handles prompt-based edits with a step-by-step revision history, and My FanCam, which auto-tracks and reframes a chosen subject in video, comes down from the foldables.
Samsung frames all of this as a focused rather than a stripped-down package.
