ASUS Rog Phone 7 and Rog Phone 7 Ultimate launched in India

ASUS has launched the ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate in India, Taiwan and Europe. The successors to last year’s gaming phones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 octa-core processor clocked at 3.2 Ghz.

The ROG Phone 7 has an Adreno 740 GPU, with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The mobile is equipped with a 6.78 inches Full HD+ Samsung AMOLED display. The screen supports a resolution of 2448 x 1080 pixels, 165Hz Refresh Rate and 720 Hz touch sampling rate. The panel has a 20.4:9 aspect ratio, supports HDR10+, 1500 nits brightness, a pixel density of 395 PPI, 111% DCI-P3, 150.89% sRGB, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The screen is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and houses an in-display fingerprint reader.

ASUS has fitted a 50 megapixels primary camera on the rear panel, with a Sony IMX766 sensor. It supports optical image stabilization, and is assisted by a 13 MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 5MP Macro sensor, and an LED Flash. The cameras are capable of recording 8K UHD video at 24 frames per second and 4K UHD at 30 / 60 fps. The front camera on the ASUS ROG Phone 7 is a 32 MP OmniVision OV32C sensor that has an f/2.4 aperture, and a 125° ultrawide-angle lens.

ASUS has packed dual 3000mAh batteries in the ROG Phone 7, so the total capacity is 6000mAh. The cells support 65W fast charging, Quick Charge 5.0 and PD Charging, and can be topped up via a USB Type-C port. The device retains the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and features Dual speakers. It supports Dirac HD sound, Hi-Res Audio, Dirac Virtuo Spatial Sound, and has three microphones that support ASUS Noise Reduction Technology.

Connectivity options on the ROG Phone 7 includes Dual SIM Cards with dual standby, 4G LTE, 5G Sub 6 SA/NSA, WiFi 7 802.11 be/ax/ac/a/b/g/n, 2×2 MIMO, 2.4GHz/ 5GHz/ 6GHz WiFi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GNSS GPS, Glonass, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, NavIC and GLONASS. The device weighs 239g, and has numerous sensors including an accelerometer, an e-compass, a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, a hall sensor, a gyroscpope that also supports ARCore, and ultrasonic sensors for AirTrigger 3 and grip press. The handset has an IP54 rating for splash resistance.

Gaming features in ASUS Rog Phone 7

The phone has a GameCool 7 thermal system which consists of optimized graphite sheets that dissipate heat to keep temperature levels in check during gaming sessions.

The ROG Phone 7 features customizable AirTrigger ultrasonic buttons, that support various gestures such as Dual Action, Press and Lift, and Gyroscope Aiming to enhance your gaming experience. The smartphones support hardware-accelerated ray tracing in select games, which will allow hyper-realistic reflections, particularly on water and metal surfaces.

ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate

The ROG Phone 7 Ultimate has the same display, processor, GPU, cameras and battery as the regular model. The Ultimate version has 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 512 GB UFS 4.0 and weighs 246g. It also has a ROG Vision display on the back panel.

ASUS is bundling an AeroActive Cooler 7 with the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, the attachment has fans to cool the device faster. The accessory also directs air directly in the Ultimate version’s AeroActive Portal.

ASUS ROG Phone 7 series price in India, US and Europe

The ASUS ROG Phone 7 price in India is Rs. 74,999, and will ship in 2 colours: Phantom Black and Storm White. The Rog Phone 7 Ultimate has been priced at Rs. 99,999, and comes with an AeroActive Cooler 7 in the box. The high-end model will only be available in a single colourway:  Storm White. The devices will be available for purchase in May.

The ROG Phone 7 price in Europe is €999, while the Ultimate version costs €1,399
