Apple has raised its US trade-in values for every iPad category and most Macs. The change landed the same day as the new iPad mini launch. The headline numbers are for laptops: a MacBook Pro now gets up to $1,435 and a MacBook Air up to $795.

iPhone and Apple Watch trade-in values haven’t changed, according to MacRumors. They have stayed the same since September.
New Apple trade-in values for Mac
These are the maximum estimates now on Apple’s trade-in page. The previous figures come from MacRumors.
- MacBook Pro: up to $1,435, from $1,315
- MacBook Air: up to $795, from $705
- Mac Pro: up to $2,560, from $2,195
- Mac Studio: up to $1,700, from $1,460 (per MacRumors)
- Mac mini: up to $645, from $620
- iMac: up to $440, from $385
- iMac Pro: unchanged at up to $340 (per MacRumors)
In dollar terms, the desktops moved most this time. The Mac Pro rose by $365 and the Mac Studio by $240.
The longer trend favors laptops, though. MacRumors notes the MacBook Pro’s maximum has more than doubled since May, when it stood at $690. The MacBook Air climbed from $520 to $795 over the same period.
New Apple trade-in values for iPad
- iPad Pro: up to $915, from $905
- iPad Air: up to $525, from $510
- iPad mini: up to $340, from $320
- iPad: up to $300, from $280
The iPad increases are modest, between $10 and $20 per category.
What to know before you trade in
Every figure above is a ceiling, not a typical payout. Most devices will get less, depending on the model, its year and its condition.
- Payment: credit toward a purchase or an Apple Gift Card, not cash
- Deadline: the trade-in must reach Apple within 14 days of you receiving your new device
- Final value: depends on condition, and in-store credit can differ from the online estimate if the condition doesn’t match
- Timing: processing generally takes two to three weeks
Because the payout is credit or a gift card, the value only helps if you plan to spend it at Apple. If you want cash, a private sale is the other route to compare.
Switching from Android? Apple’s page also lists Android trade-in estimates. Examples include up to $275 for a Pixel 9 Pro, $250 for a OnePlus 13 and $125 for a Galaxy S22 Ultra.
