Instagram’s official app is now available on Apple TV. The US App Store listing for Instagram now names Apple TV as a supported device alongside iPhone and iPad. It needs tvOS 26.0 or later and, like the phone app, costs nothing to download.

MacRumors, which spotted the listing, says the app appears to have launched around October 23. The site bases that on Apple’s TV-specific release metadata and on an archived October 19 listing that showed only iPhone and iPad.
Third-party viewers such as Watch for Instagram have been on Apple TV for a while. This is the first app from Instagram itself.
What you get with Instagram on Apple TV
The App Store screenshots show a home screen built around Reels. A Stories row sits at the top, with a “For you” grid of reels below it and a navigation rail on the left.
Picking a reel plays it full screen. Like, comment, repost and share counts sit beside the video. Small avatars show which of your friends reacted to it.
The layout is aimed at people watching together in the living room rather than one person scrolling alone.
MacRumors also reports that the Apple TV app’s description lists longer videos and live shows alongside Reels. Apple’s US web listing only shows the iPhone description, so androidpure couldn’t check that wording directly.

To get it, update your Apple TV to tvOS 26 or later under Settings > System > Software Updates. Then search for Instagram in the App Store on the box. The app is free.
Google TV and Fire TV users got it first
Apple TV owners are late to this one. Instagram began testing a TV app on Amazon Fire TV in the US in December 2025.
According to MacRumors, it then reached Google TV in February 2026 and Samsung smart TVs in June. If you watch on an Android-based Google TV device, Instagram’s TV app has been an option there for months.
Instagram has been filling gaps on Apple hardware lately. Its dedicated iPad app only arrived in September 2025, per MacRumors.
The TV push fits Meta’s wider focus on Reels across its apps. Facebook, for example, now lets you tell its algorithm what you want in Feed and Reels.
