Apple’s next launch event now has a reported date. Bloomberg says the company will hold it “on or around” October 27, two weeks after the October 13 smart-home event Apple has already confirmed. The headline product is expected to be a MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen, which would be Apple’s first touch-enabled Mac.

The date is the new part. androidpure’s earlier look at Apple’s second October wave only had a vaguer window for the same products. A specific day changes how close this is: a late-October announcement is now roughly two and a half weeks out.
What the touchscreen MacBook Pro report describes
Per Bloomberg’s reporting, relayed by The Verge and MacRumors, the event covers two separate MacBook Pro tracks rather than one refresh.
- Touchscreen MacBook Pro: OLED display with touch input, plus an iPhone-style Dynamic Island cutout
- Standard MacBook Pro: the current design carried over, with the move to Apple’s M6 chip
- iPad mini: an OLED screen, a front camera on the landscape edge for video calls, and a reworked speaker system
The iPad mini refresh is the overdue one here, since Apple last updated that tablet in 2024. We covered the earlier iPad mini 8 display rumors separately.
Event format and what is still unconfirmed
Bloomberg reports both October events will run the same way. Apple would post an online video presentation and hold a separate in-person hands-on session for press.
Two things to keep in mind. Apple has not confirmed an October 27 event as of October 9, so the date remains reporting rather than fact. Neither source gives an on-sale date for anything announced that day, so the gap between announcement and shipping is an open question.
Bloomberg has a strong record here, including calling the October 13 event before Apple announced it. That is reason to take the date seriously. It is not reason to treat the spec details as settled, particularly on a touchscreen Mac that Apple has never shipped before.
