Apple Charges $129 to Replace an iPhone 18 Pro Battery, Up From $119

Apple has raised the out-of-warranty battery replacement fee for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to $129 in the US. That’s $10 more than Apple has charged for every Pro iPhone battery replacement since the 16 Pro.

What changed, and by how much

Apple has charged $119 to replace the battery in an iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro since each launched. That’s according to its own support pricing. That fee now stands at $129 for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, per MacRumors’ review of Apple’s own support pricing this week. The iPhone 18 Pro models do have larger batteries than their predecessors. But Apple hasn’t said whether that’s the reason for the higher fee. It also hasn’t detailed how that translates to a $10 difference in labor and parts.

The fee only applies once a phone is out of warranty and doesn’t have AppleCare+. If your iPhone has AppleCare+, Apple replaces the battery at no extra cost once its capacity drops below 80%. You can check that figure any time in Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health. Apple hasn’t touched that AppleCare+ threshold, only the fee for everyone paying out of pocket.

Why this is worth noticing

A $10 jump on a single repair line item isn’t going to change many buying decisions on its own. But it’s a reminder that the real cost of keeping a flagship iPhone running past its warranty period keeps climbing. Every increase like this one nudges the math further toward buying AppleCare+. No breakdown has surfaced showing the higher fee tracks an equivalent rise in Apple’s own component or labor costs. Buyers are simply being asked to absorb it.

If you’re planning to keep an iPhone 18 Pro for the usual three-to-four-year cycle, compare AppleCare+ pricing against this new $129 fee now. Do it before the battery starts to wear down, not after.
