Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite with Snapdragon 660, Mi Pro with In-Display Fingerprint Scanner launched in China

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite (Youth Edition) has been launched in China. This is a mid-range phone, which is powered by a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.

The device sports a 6.26-inch Full HD+ display, with a notch design, and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The Mi 8 Lite comes in two variants of RAM i.e. 4GB/6GB and 64GB/128GB of internal storage, with a microSD card slot for expandable memory.

The Mi 8 Lite runs on MIUI 9.6 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system, and the company has promised that the MIUI 10 update will arrive soon.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite features 12MP + 5MP dual cameras with a f/1.9 aperture, 1.4µm pixel size. The selfie camera on the device is a 24MP lens with a Sony IMX576 sensor and a f/2.2 aperture for selfies & video calls.

The phone is backed by a 3,350 mAh battery which supports Quick charging over USB Type-C. The phone is 7.5mm in terms of thickness, and weights at 169g.

The Mi 8 Lite has been priced at 1399 RMB (approx Rs. 15,000) for the 4GB/64GB variant, while the 6GB/64GB version is priced at 1699 RMB (about Rs. 18,000) and the 6GB/128GB version is priced at 1999 RMB (about Rs. 21,000). The phone will be available from September 25th and comes in Blue, Gold, and Gray colours.

Mi 8 Pro (In-Display Fingerprint Scanner variant)

The Mi 8 Pro variant was launched alongside the Lite. The device is basically the same as the regular Mi 8 and retains the features such as the Infrared Face Unlock. The main difference is that the Mi 8 Pro has an In-display fingerprint scanner. The device will be available in two variants: one with 6GB of RAM, and another with 8GB of RAM. Both versions have the same amount of storage at 128GB.

The Mi 8 Pro has been priced at 3199 RMB (about Rs. 34,000) for the 6GB RAM variant, while the 8GB RAM variant has been priced at 3599 RMB (Rs. 38,000 approx). The device will be available in China, from Today. The phone comes in a transparent edition too.

Xiaomi Senior VP, Wang Xiang, has confirmed that both Mi 8 Lite and Mi 8 Pro will be launched in other Countries around the World soon.
