A BlackBerry Key2 LE press render has been spotted online, and it reveals a blue coloured back panel. This is the Light Edition of the Key2, which had been announced in June.

BlackBerry Key2 LE

Here is a picture of the original BlackBerry Key2 for comparison, the Light Edition does look awfully similar to the Key 2 doesn’t it? But is the Light Edition is quite different.

BlackBerry Key2

In what way? Well, in several ways, according to a report by Nieuwemobiel.nl. The BlackBerry Key2 LE has a smaller battery, in terms of capacity, which is 3000mAh vs the Key2’s 3500 mAh.

Another difference is the keyboard on the BlackBerry Key2 LE, which allegedly is not touch sensitive. It still packs a fingerprint scanner in the spacebar.

The Key2 LE has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with 4GB of RAM, as opposed to the Snapdragon 660 and 6GB on the regular Key2.

The BlackBerry Key2 LE retains the same 4.5-inch 1620 x 1080p display. It also differs in the camera department, with a 12MP and 5MP lens, whereas the Key2 had dual 12MP cameras. The phone has a USB Type C port, and dual speakers on the bottom of the device. And yes, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the phone.

For a mid-range phone, the Key2 does costs a pretty penny with a price tag of Rs. 42,990 (£579 or $650). We can expect the light edition to be priced slightly lower, perhaps between Rs. 30,000 to 35,000.

According to the clock widget on the homescreen of the BlackBerry Key2 LE press render, the phone will be launched on August 30th. And word is that TCL is the manufacturer of the device, and the launch event is scheduled to be held during the IFA tech show.

We will update you when we hear more about the Key2 LE, stay tuned.
