Vivo launched a new selfie focussed smartphone in the form of Vivo V5s which is basically a minor upgrade over Vivo V5 selfie smartphone with almost same specifications as Vivo V5 except the upgraded storage which is now doubled to 64 GB and a design change at the back panel which resembles more of V5 Plus. In addition to small hardware upgrade & minor design change, the phone now runs on Funtouch OS 3.0 instead of Funtouch OS 2.6 of V5. We have used this device as our primary phone for almost a week to check what has improved compared to Vivo V5 selfie smartphone. In this review, we will only talk in brief only on some of the improvements, as its review is almost same as the Vivo V5 Review and you should go read that review also.

Vivo V5s comes with a better back panel design with Antenna lines seamless integrated with the top and bottom edge of the phone which looks much better and is similar to the V5 plus or even iPhone 7. The rest of the design s same as what we have seen earlier in V5. Also, addition of Matte black color is a good option and in fact the Matte black color looks much premium to the golden variant of the phone.
Thanks to an upgrade to 64 GB storage, you have plenty of space on the phone and most consumers won’t need an additional microsd card though you can add it using the hybrid SIM slot. This means that most consumers can use the second SIM without worrying for the storage space running out. The phone now runs on Funtouch OS 3.0instead of Funtouch 2.6 though you won’t feel much difference in terms of features, but it did feel much smoother compared to Funtouch OS 2.6.
In terms of camera performance, as the camera sensors are same as V5, the performance is same though with slight improvement over its predecessor. Checkout the camera samples below for yourself:

The battery capacity remains same as 3,000 mAh with no support for fast charge, but we did experience a better battery life which is approximately 15-20% more than the previous Vivo V5. In our opinion, the better battery life may be due to the upgraded Funtouch OS 3.0 instead of funtouch OS 2.6. We expected fast charge support with the phone, but unfortunately it’s not there.
Conclusion
Vivo V5s is a good device if shooting good selfies is your primary objective, though you can find better options if you want more value for money. We still expect the fast charging option on a device which is priced at Rs. 18,990 and even a better processor than a Mediatek MT6750 processor, though the 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage does help.
