We have heard reports of Smartphone manufacturers working on flexible / bending display for future smartphones. Lenovo even demoed one such flexible display during the IFA 2016, though it was just a prototype and still not in mass production phase. It appears that even Xiaomi is working on a flexible display and have made some good progress to make it to mass production stage.

The information comes after a video of Xiaomi smartphone with flexible screen in working state leaked (via) on Chinese social network Weibo. Just hours before the video, some images of flexible display also leaked, followed by the video later.

The images appeared too good to be true and we were not so sure about this initially. But the leaked video in working condition added more credibility to the leak. Check out the video (Link), reproduced below of Xiaomi smartphone with flexible screen in working state. It may be a concept video or an early prototype, we are not sure. (Youtube Copy Removed)

The 36 second small video shows the home screen and various app & games opening on it flawlessly without any issues. In spite of this video though, it will be premature to put any ETA for this technology to reach smartphones in mass production phase. Xiaomi is yet to announce any information related to this. We will wait for some official confirmation. At the moment, we can assume this is still a laboratory prototype and in testing phase.
