Moto 360 v2 officially launched at IFA 2015, here is all you need to know about it

Motorola has officially unveiled the 2nd gen Moto 360, at the IFA 2015 tech show in Berlin, Germany.

And this time there isn’t just one watch but three new wearables.

The Moto 360 v2 now comes in a men’s watch and women’s watch designs, while the third one is called Moto 360 Sport, and is designed for fitness enthusiasts.

The Moto 360 2nd Gen features a backlit LCD Display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.  The mens 42mm and womens watches have a 1.37-inch Display, with a resolution of 360 x 325 pixels, with a pixel density of 263 PPI.

The mens 46mm watch has a 1.56-inch Display, with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, with a pixel density of 233 PPI.

The Moto 360 2nd Gen is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, with 512 MB RAM, and an Adreno 305 GPU. It has 4GB of internal storage, and a plethora of sensors: Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor, Gyroscope, Vibration/Haptics engine.

The 42mm watch packs in a 300mAh battery, while the 46mm watch is backed by a 400mAh battery. Both variants  are expected to give a full day battery life with Ambient Display on, while turning it off is touted to give 1.5 days/2 days of battery life respectively.

The watches support Wireless charging and come with a free charging dock, and are also Bluetooth 4.0 LE and Wi-Fi enabled.

The Moto 360 v2 comes with dual digital mics, for voice commands. Coming to the design, the Moto 360 2nd gen watches have lugs and the button is placed at the 2 o’ clock position, like we have reported numerous times, and come with quick-release bands, which allow you to swap bands with ease, allowing you customize your look. Speaking of customization, the watch comes with support for Moto Maker, which allows you to choose the colour of the bezel, the case, and the band.

The new Moto 360 runs on Android Wear, and supports standard notifications at a glance, voice commands, various apps, and comes with one new and exclusive deature called Live Dials. This allows you to place shortcuts (like widgets) on the watch face.

The watch comes with a fitness centric feature called Moto Body, which allows you to track your hear rate and also shows you how many calories you burned.

The Moto 360 Sport is designed to work even when you don’t have your phone nearby. features a built-in GPS, for tracking your speed, distance, pace, and also has a heart rate sensor. It also has the ability to store and play music directly, (without a phone). The Moto 360 Sport has a AnyLight hybrid display, which allows you to view the screen’s content even in bright sunlight.

The Sport watch is made with silicone, and a special UV coating making it resistant to moisture, fading and staining. It also houses side vents to help you stay cool during your workout.

Pricing and availability:

The Moto 360 2nd Gen prices starts at $300 and goes up to $430, depending on the design. The watches will be available in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

People in the U.S., can pre-order the new Moto 360 from Motorola.com, Google Play and BestBuy.com. The Moto Sport is expected to be made available later this year.
