OnePlus has finally launched its “2016 Flagship Killer’, the OnePlus 2.

OnePlus2

As announced previously, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor with 4GB LP DDR4 RAM for the 64GB variant. The 16GB variant comes with 3GB RAM. The phone does not come with an expandable memory option.

The OnePlus 2 flaunts a 5.5” 1080p display, as opposed to the leaks which claimed that the phone will come with a Quad HD Display, and the company’s explanation is “Adding pixels beyond this brings nothing to the user experience”.

The fingerprint sensor, which is in the form of a physical home button is present below the display, and can store up to 5 unique fingerprints. The USB Type-C port on the phone’s bottom provides for charging and data transfer,  and uses OnePlus’ “patented plug”. The OnePlus 2 also comes with a new unique button, called the  Alert Slider,  using which users can quickly switch between notification settings.

The keys on the phone are customizable, and you can also disable them and switch to on-screen keys. The phone is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery.

The OnePlus2 sports a 13 megapixel rear camera with sensor pixel size of 1.3 microns, and also supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), Laser auto-focus for faster focusing, and better low-light performance than its predecessor. The camera is capable of capturing slow motion videos at 120 fps.  The phone is a Dual SIM 4G enabled device, but does not support  quick charge, wireless charging, and NFC.

The OnePlus 2 is made with strong and lightweight aluminum alloy, with a steel frame.  All OnePlus 2 phones will come with the company’s classic Sandstone Black back cover, and the company will be selling 4 StlyeSwap covers: Bamboo, Black Apricot, Rosewood, and Kevlar. OnePlus says the covers, can be changed easily without any special tool (clearly a swipe at Xiaomi’s Bee).

The phone runs on OxygenOS, which has been improved with several tweaks, including support for custom icon packs, fine-tuning the LED indicator, icon grid size, app permissions.
