Amzer Silicone Skin Jelly Case for Google Nexus 7 [Review]

One of the biggest concerns of Smartphone and Tablet users, is to protect the device from scratches or even accidental drops. Google has an official case for the Nexus 7, for sale on the Play Store, but it isn’t available worldwide. So users have to look for different options to protect their device from physical damage.

I am going to review the Amzer Amzer Silicone Skin Jelly Case (94381) which is available for users in the U.K, the U.S and India.

First, lets talk about the design of the case. It’s a gorgeous piece to protect your Nexus 7 with, looks sleek and feels very smooth in your hands. It does not by any means make your tablet look cheap,  in fact it adds quite a bit of style especially at the back with the X-shaped grip.Amzer 94381 back

Build quality, this is where the case excels. It is made of fine durable silicon material, meaning you could attach it to the Nexus 7 quite easily and remove it as well. And it is also dust-resistant, I tested it by placing it on a dusty table and couldn’t notice any dust particles sticking to it. So its pretty easy to clean as well. Of course, if you wanted to clean the Nexus 7 thoroughly you would have to remove it from the case to do so. But I don’t think that would be necessary.

The case has cut-out vents for the front-end camera of the Nexus 7, the speakers on the rear, the charger and headphone ports. It also features raised buttons for the Power and the volume rocker buttons. I have been using this case for a couple of weeks and am yet to find any problem with it. And its great for gaming too, the case is designed to provide a firm grip so even if your hands get sweaty you wouldn’t lose your grip and drop the tablet.

Amzer claims that the case would prevent the device from drops and scratches, and from the quality of the case I certainly feel this is true. In short words, its worth the price. Speaking of the price it costs around $20. I wasn’t able to find a better case for this price.

Tip: Don’t use any sharp objects such as a pair of scissors or a knife, to remove or attach the case as this will damage it and the device as well.

Pros:

  • Economical case.
  • Adds a firm grip to the device.
  • Easy to remove and attach.
  • Dust resistant.
  • Protects the device from scratches and possibly drops.

Good design with proper vents for the Camera, Speaker, Headphone and charger ports.

Cons:

  • Adds a bit of weight.
  • You still need something to protect the screen from scratches.

This silicon case should be available on Amazon and other popular online stores as well.

For Indian users, the Amzer 94381 Silicone Skin Jelly Case for Google Nexus 7 is available at Flipkart for around 1000 Rupees.

But if you want it in a different colour, you could buy it from Amzer India’s website.
