ESPN Unlimited Is Now Fully Inside YouTube TV, No App Switching

ESPN Unlimited now lives entirely inside YouTube TV. Google finished the rollout on 1 September, and the practical result is that US subscribers no longer have to jump out to the ESPN app to watch a game, a studio show or a documentary. It applies to anyone on the main YouTube TV plan, or on any plan that includes Sports.

This is a US-only change. YouTube TV is not sold in India or most other markets, so it does not affect the regular YouTube app anywhere.

What changes inside the YouTube TV app

The live guide now surfaces three rows of currently airing ESPN Unlimited events, plus a dedicated network row for browsing everything else. When a game carries multiple feeds, the updated station picker lets you choose between languages, home and away broadcasts, and alternate camera angles, each labelled rather than left to guesswork.

ESPN content also inherits the YouTube TV features subscribers already pay for. That means unlimited DVR, multiview, and the key plays, scores and stats overlays working across ESPN Unlimited programming rather than stopping at the app boundary.

Fantasy Football tie-in

YouTube TV’s Fantasy View feature now supports ESPN Fantasy Football. You link your ESPN account through YouTube TV settings, and your fantasy teams are tracked during live NFL games. Worth doing before the season starts rather than during a Sunday slate.

What you can actually watch

  • Live sport: US Open tennis, NCAA College Football, PGA Tour golf, WWE Premium Live Events, LALIGA, and out-of-market NHL games
  • Studio shows: including The Rich Eisen Show
  • Library: ESPN Originals and Films, plus the complete ESPN 30 for 30 documentary collection

Why it took until September

It is worth being clear about what this is. The integration stems from the carriage agreement Google and Disney reached after Disney’s networks went dark on YouTube TV in late 2025. Bringing ESPN Unlimited properly into the app was part of what Google agreed to deliver, and subscribers have been paying for a partially-integrated version since it started arriving in August.

That does not make the finished product worse. Multiview and alternate feeds inside the main guide are a real improvement over app-switching, and the DVR extension has genuine value. But it is a contractual obligation landing, not a gift, and the plan requirement is the part to read twice. If you are on a YouTube TV plan that does not include Sports, none of the above is yours.

YouTube’s announcement closes on the pitch itself: “Watching all of your favorite teams and important games should be simple. With ESPN Unlimited joining our YouTube TV lineup, we’ve got you covered all season long.”

Full details are in YouTube’s own announcement.
