Xiaomi Opens HyperOS 4 Global Beta: 7 Phones Get Early Access

Xiaomi has opened the HyperOS 4 global beta program, a month after the same update began testing in China. The Android 17-based update is rolling out to seven phones in two rounds, starting with three devices whose beta recruitment is already live.

Which phones are eligible right now

Beta enrollment is open today for the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. A second batch joins the program on September 17: the Xiaomi 17T Pro, Xiaomi 17T, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15.

  • Live now: Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi 17, Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi
  • From September 17: Xiaomi 17T Pro, Xiaomi 17T, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Xiaomi 15

The rollout is currently limited to Global and EEA units. Xiaomi has not said when, or whether, other regions will be added. Buyers outside those two device pools should not expect the beta yet.

How to sign up, and what to know before you do

Applying requires the Xiaomi Community app: go to ME, then Beta testing, then Recruiting test, and fill in the required details. Xiaomi says seats may be limited, so applying early matters if a spot is wanted. Selected applicants receive the beta as an over-the-air update.

Beta software carries the usual risks. Xiaomi recommends backing up important data before installing, since rolling back to HyperOS 3 isn’t a simple toggle. Reverting requires manually flashing stable firmware, which typically means a full data wipe on the device.

This global rollout is separate from the China-only HyperOS 4 beta that started in mid-August with a different set of eight phones. Anyone tracking eligibility should treat the two programs as distinct rather than assuming a device on one list qualifies for the other.
