Samsung Wallet’s digital car key now works with a set of Cadillac EVs in the United States and Canada. Owners of the supported models can leave the physical fob at home and use a Galaxy phone instead. The feature uses ultra-wideband alongside Bluetooth Low Energy. The car can unlock as you walk up to it and lock itself once you walk away.

Which Cadillac models Samsung Wallet supports
- Cadillac LYRIQ: 2025 to 2027 model years
- Cadillac OPTIQ: 2026 to 2027 model years
- Cadillac VISTIQ: 2027 model year
Samsung Electronics America has said more Cadillac models should gain support before the end of this year. Availability is limited to the US and Canada for now.
What you can do with the key
The headline behaviour is passive entry. Ultra-wideband can tell roughly where your phone is, not just whether it is nearby. That lets the car respond as you approach the door, without you pulling the phone out at all. Bluetooth Low Energy keeps the connection alive at lower power.
Keys can also be shared temporarily with other people. That is the genuinely useful part for a household, or for anyone handing a car to a visiting relative for a weekend. A shared digital key can be issued and withdrawn without copying a physical fob.
The UWB compatibility catch
All of this depends on ultra-wideband hardware inside the phone, and UWB is not present on every Galaxy or Android model. Someone can own a supported Cadillac, run Samsung Wallet, and still not get the walk-up unlock being described here.
That is the same limitation we flagged when Samsung Wallet’s digital key reached Volkswagen’s ID. EVs. The pattern has not changed. Before treating this as a reason to buy either the car or the phone, confirm that your specific phone model lists UWB support.
This is GM’s rollout as much as Samsung’s
It is worth being precise about whose feature this is. The digital key capability comes from General Motors equipping these vehicles for it. Samsung Wallet is one of the supported phone wallets rather than the only option. So this is Cadillac joining the list of cars Samsung Wallet can open, not an exclusive arrangement.
Either way, the list keeps growing. Volkswagen was already on it. Cadillac makes this look less like a pilot and more like a standard capability that automakers opt into one model year at a time.
