Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge images and technical specifications leaked

The images and technical specifications  of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the upcoming flagship devices from the South Korean electronics giant, have been leaked online.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S7 will have 5.1-inch Display while the Galaxy S7 edge will sport a 5.5-inch Display, with both screens being Super AMOLED supporting a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). The display will support always-on display (AOD, like Windows Phone’s Glance Screen, for notifications about downloaded content. This feature is said to consume just 1% of the battery per hour.

Both devices are touted to be powered by the company’s own Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor (4 x 2.3GHz and 4 x 1.6 GHz cores) in some regions, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC in America. All models of the S7 will feature 4GB of RAM, and come in 32GB and 64GB variants.

And unlike the Galaxy S6 series, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge will feature a microSD card slots, which will support up to 200GB of expandable storage. Additionally, the two devices will be certified for IP67 dust and water resistance.

The Galaxy S7 will be backed by a 3000mAh battery, while the S7 Edge will have a 3600mAh battery, in contrast to the 2550mAh and 2600mAh batteries which powered its predecessors, the S6 series. Both devices will support wireless charging. The phones will support LTE Cat 9,

The Samsung Galaxy S7 will have a 12 megapixel rear camera with an f/1.7 aperture, and a 5 megapixel front camera for selfies. It is worth noting that the main camera is a downgrade from 16 MP the S6, though the f-stop is better from the f/1.9. The phones are expected to come in 3 colours:  black, white, and gold.

The leak says that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S7 and  the Galaxy S7 Edge before MWC 2016 (Mobile World Congress), in mid to late February, with the devices global availability rumoured to be in March.
