One of the problems while using data on smartphones is the limited data plans that comes with your phone from your service provider. Unlimited plans either do not exist or they are too expensive. ONAVA- FREE APP WITHOUT ADS
Onava is a free app without any Ads, available in Android Market and can be downloaded to your Phone easily by searching for it. Just install it on your phone and on first run, it shows you what is capable of using a walk through. After that it asks you to setup your data plan for your Phone. You can easily set things like your monthly data limit, the date of billing so that it can reset the data limit, any previous data used till now and the money spent on that data plan. It detected the currency for India correctly which is rare for apps.
MONITOR 2G, 3G REAL-TIME DATA USAGE
A small icon displays permanently in your notification area and tracks your data usage in real-time. It will shows details like the total amount of data usage out of the total data limit in addition to your data plan details, App Watch showing details of data used by different apps and your usage profile. If you tap on your data plan option, it will show you details like the data used in that month along with the estimated data usage for the month, along with a weekly graph of data usage etc. This usage is great if you want to know how much data you are using and will eventually consume in the month if you use it at same rate.
RESTRICT APPS WITH APP WATCH
Using App Watch, you can keep a track of data usage by each App along with the estimates and hence will know which App is consuming more data. If you want, you can restrict that data hogging App from accessing the data. By default, a notification will be given by the app if any app is abusing the data.
DATA USAGE PROFILE
It also keeps track of your total data usage profile and shows you how much data you use depending on time of the day i.e. it gives you a graph which shows your hourly use of the data. This data can help you visualize how you use your data plan and can be optimized based on the usage.
DRAWBACK
It doesn’t monitor your data usage while you are using the WiFi. That in my opinion isn’t a drawback in fact as most of us are only concerned with the limited data plan that we have on our Phone. WiFi data usually isn’t expensive and hence its not a big deal if it is not tracking the WiFi data usage. Also for some of you the permanent icon in notification area can be a annoyance, but I think its not a big deal either.
CONCLUSION
It is the best App for Data Monitoring that I have encountered till now and that too for Free without any ads. If you have a limited data Plan on your Android Smartphone or device, you must install this App to keep track and monitor your 2G, 3G data usage.
