Google’s Dreambeans Feed Opens to All US Accounts

Dreambeans, the Google Labs experiment that generates a personalised daily feed of stories for you, is no longer an invite-only curiosity. Google says it is now available to all accounts in the US aged 18 and over, on both Android and iOS.

Google Labs introduced Dreambeans in June as an experiment. The change announced on 10 September is reach, not design: the app now opens to consumer accounts, alongside Google AI Plus, AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.

If the idea sounds familiar, it should. Dreambeans is a hyper-personalised relative of Google Discover, and it runs on the same Personal Intelligence system behind the Gemini app and AI Mode.

What a dreambean is made of

Google breaks each story down into two inputs:

  • Personalised topics — places to explore, shows to watch, or a reminder of an upcoming event.
  • Connected apps — distilled information from the Google apps you select: Calendar, Gmail, Photos, Search, YouTube, and now Gemini.

The Photos link is the one worth noticing. If you connect it, Dreambeans can fold visuals of you and the people close to you into the stories it writes, which is a different level of personal than a news feed. You choose which apps it can reach during setup, and stories can be bookmarked, shared, or opened further.

The privacy trade you are making

Dreambeans only works by reading your mail, your calendar, your searches and your photo library. That is the product, not a side effect, and Google’s framing is about the convenience of a feed that already knows what you care about. The honest read is that the same signals that make the feed good are the ones a lot of people keep deliberately disconnected from each other.

The app does require your consent per service, and it is opt-in rather than on by default, so the control exists. Treat the setup screen as the real decision point: what you connect on day one is what the feed gets to reason about.

It is also US-only for now, and 18-plus. Google has not said when it will expand, and “available in the US” is the same wall that has held back several Labs experiments this year. On Android, you get it through the Play Store like any other app.
