Galaxy S26 August Security Update Rolls Out, Ultra Red-Tint Fix Too

Samsung has started rolling out the August 2026 security update to the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, and separately told Galaxy S26 Ultra owners that the software fix for the display’s red-tint problem would begin arriving the same day. The two things landed hours apart on 26 August, both starting in South Korea.

What the August 2026 update contains

The patch fixes 56 security issues. It is going out to Galaxy S26 units running stable One UI 8.5; devices enrolled in the One UI 9.0 beta already picked up the August patch with the sixth beta build. Samsung released it in South Korea first, with other regions expected to follow over the next few days.

To check for it yourself, go to Settings > Software update > Check for updates. Samsung has been slower than usual with this month’s patch — a lot of recent and high-end Galaxy devices were still waiting on it well into the month, which is not a great look for a company that markets its security cadence as a selling point.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra red-tint fix

A separate notice, posted in the Samsung Members app and subsequently shared to Samsung’s community forum by a user, told affected Galaxy S26 Ultra owners that an update addressing the red discolouration on their displays would start rolling out on 26 August. In translation, Samsung describes it as a colour-optimisation update and says no separate action is needed on the owner’s part — meaning it should arrive as a normal OTA rather than requiring anything manual.

That is the meaningful change here. When the red tint first surfaced in July, Samsung’s initial instruction to affected owners was to take the phone to a service centre and have the fix installed by a technician — an unreasonable ask for a defect on a phone at this price, and one that quietly excluded anyone who does not live near a Samsung outlet. The company said at the time that a wider rollout would follow, and this appears to be it.

Two caveats worth keeping in view. Neither the Members notice nor Samsung’s update listing says the red-tint fix is bundled inside the August security patch; the two arrived on the same day in the same market, which is suggestive but not confirmation, and the update notice and the security patch are described separately. And replies under the community post indicate the fix has not resolved the tint for every owner — too early to draw a conclusion from, but a reason to look closely at your own panel after updating rather than assuming it is handled.

If you own an S26 Ultra with the red cast and the update has not reached you yet, it should within days as the rollout widens past Korea. If it arrives and the tint is still visible, that is worth reporting through Samsung Members rather than absorbing — a display defect that survives its own fix is still a warranty matter.
