Samsung Sets August 27 Galaxy Event for a New Galaxy S26 Model

Samsung has confirmed a Galaxy Event for August 27, a virtual-only broadcast that will introduce what the company calls “the newest addition to the Galaxy S26 family.” The invitation posted to Samsung’s US newsroom on August 19 is short — three sentences and a footnote — and it never names the device. That has not stopped almost everyone from filling in the blank with “Galaxy S26 FE,” but it is worth being precise about what Samsung has actually committed to and what is still expectation.

What Samsung has confirmed about the August 27 Galaxy Event

Three things, and only three. The event is called Galaxy Event August 2026. It happens on August 27. And, in Samsung’s words, “The Galaxy event will be streamed live on Samsung.com and Samsung’s YouTube channel beginning at 9 p.m. KST.” There is no venue, no in-person component mentioned, and no product name.

The one sentence describing the device is deliberately vague. Samsung’s US newsroom says the event will introduce the newest addition to the Galaxy S26 family, “purposefully designed to bring many Galaxy S26 experiences from camera to AI, along with the latest One UI, to those who look for what truly matters most to them.” Read that as marketing for a cheaper phone that inherits some, but not all, of the flagship’s features — which is exactly what the FE line has always been.

When to watch, in your time zone

9 p.m. KST is 12:00 UTC. That works out to 8am ET and 5am PT, per 9to5Google and Droid Life, both of which flagged the awkward hour for US viewers. In the UK that is 1pm BST, in central Europe 2pm CEST, and in India 5:30pm IST.

The footnote is the part worth reading twice

Samsung’s invitation leans on “camera to AI” as the pitch, and attaches a footnote marker to the word AI. The footnote reads, in part: “Galaxy AI basic features provided by Samsung are free. Future releases may include enhanced features or new services that are offered on a paid basis.”

It is easy to scroll past. It should not be. The AI features being used to sell a mid-range phone are, by Samsung’s own admission, split into a free basic tier and a future paid tier whose contents and price nobody outside Samsung knows. If Galaxy AI is a reason you are considering this phone, buy it for what it does on day one, not for what the keynote implies it might grow into.

Worth noting alongside that: the event key visual Samsung distributed in its own press kit carries a small line of text reading “Contains AI-generated images with edits.” The green-tea styling of that artwork is being read as a hint at the rumoured Pistachio colourway, but it is a generated image, not a product shot.

What is still rumour, not confirmation

Everything below this line comes from leaks, not from Samsung, and should be treated accordingly:

  • The name — Samsung has not said “Galaxy S26 FE.” Outlets covering the invitation have treated the FE as a foregone conclusion based on prior leaks. It is a reasonable read, not a confirmed one.
  • Specifications — Gizmochina’s report of leaked promotional material describes a 6.7-inch Full HD+ 120Hz display, a 50MP main plus 12MP ultrawide and 8MP telephoto rear setup, a 12MP front camera, a 4,900mAh battery with 45W wired charging, an Exynos 2500, and IP68 rating. None of that is in Samsung’s invitation.
  • Colours — Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio, per the same leaked material.
  • Other products — 9to5Google raises the possibility of a Galaxy Tab S12 or new Galaxy Buds appearing at the same event. Samsung’s text mentions neither, and mentions no tablet or audio product at all.

Pricing is the open question the invitation does not touch, and it is the one that decides whether this phone is interesting. The FE line exists to sit meaningfully below the base flagship; with memory costs pushing phone prices up across the industry this year, that gap is the thing to watch on August 27. One point in the device’s favour if the FE branding holds: we have noted before that the Galaxy S26 FE looks set to outlast the S26 Ultra on software updates, which changes the value calculation for a cheaper phone considerably.
