Asus just announced its roadmap for providing Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its Zenfone series. The roadmap includes Zenfone 2 series devices such as ZenFone 2, its Deluxe & Laser variant and Zenfone Selfie, Max & Zoom variants. In addition to these, the PadFone S (PF500KL) will also be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This update is scheduled to be rolled out in the second quarter of 2016 i.e. sometime between April to June.
The roadmap though skips mentioning the first generation of Zenfone devices (if you may call them so) i.e Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6. Even though ASUS has not officially stated that they will not be providing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6, yet not mentioning them in the roadmap of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update does almost confirm that their won’t be any Marshmallow update for these devices.
We are reaching out to Asus for clarification and will update you when we hear back from them. We still hope that Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 can get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, but it seems that the chances are slim.
