ASUS Zenfone 2 launched in India, pricing revealed

ASUS’ 2015 flagship phone, the ASUS Zenfone 2 has been launched in India.

AndroidPure was at the launch event in Gurgaon, and here is all you need to know about the shiny phones.

Four variants of the Zenfone 2 were launched today.

OS and Interface:

The Zenfone 2 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with a new ASUS Zen UI on top. It offers a variety of custom themes, and also lets you create your own themes or download for free.

The phones support ZenMotion touch, and motion gestures. This includes double tap to wake the phone, or as ASUS terms it, Tap Tap to wake. This is especially useful since the power button on the phone is placed on the top of the device. The volume rocker buttons are available on the phone’s rear, below the camera.

Display, Processor, RAM and Graphics:

The ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE551ML variant is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, and is the world’s first phone to come with 4GB RAM.

It also comes in a 2GB RAM variant which is powered by a 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Z3560 Quad Core Processor. The phone flaunts a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS Display (1920 x 1080 pixels).

The ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE550ML variant is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, and 2GB of RAM. The phone features a 5.5-inch HD IPS Display (1280 x 720 pixels).

The phones feature a Power VR 6430 GPU for handling the graphics. ASUS says that the Zenfone 2’s CPU is about 3 times faster than the Zenfone 5, and that the GPU is 7 times faster.

The displays of all three variants are scratch resistant, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and also support GloveTouch. The phones have a 72% screen to body ratio.

Storage:

The devices come in four variants: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, and supports up to an additional 64GB via microSD. The phones also come with 5GB of Lifetime cloud storage on ASUS WebStorage.

Cameras:

The rear cameras on the Zenfone 2 are 13 Megapixel PixelMaster lenses, which have an f/2.0 aperture, 5-element piece, Blue glass filter, Dual-LED Flash (Dual Color Real-Tone) and supports Auto-Focus. The selfie lenses on the phones are 5 Megapixel 85 degree wide angle cameras, also with an f/2.0 aperture

The cameras offer a slew of shooting modes including HDR, low light mode, Manual DSLR, Beautification mode, 52 Megapixel Super Resolution, Zero Shutter Lag and more.

Connectivity:

All three variants of the phone support 4G LTE (Cat4+) networks, and are Dual SIM (Dual Active) devices. The devices support 5 satellite navigation systems: GPS, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS and SBAS

Battery:

The Zenfone 2 comes with a whopping 3,000 mAh battery, which also supports BoostMaster Fast Charging Technology. This will deliver up to 60% battery charge in just 39 minutes

Acccessories:

ASUS also introduced the Lolliflash and Zenflash accessories for natural color and skin-tone, and better lighting respectively

Pricing and Availability:

The ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE551ML will be available in four colours: Black,Red, Gold, Silver, and has been priced at Rs. 22,999 for the 64GB variant with 4GB RAM, Rs. 19,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs. 14,999 for the 2GB RAM variant with 16GB storage.

The Asus Zenfone 2 ZE550ML with 16GB storage and 2GB RAM, will be available in three colours: Black, White, Red and has been priced at Rs.12,999.

The ASUS Zenfone 2 phones are available exclusively at Flipkart. They are available for purchase without any registration or flash sales.
