The Android 12 Update for OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro has been released. The firmware is currently being seeded to users in India and North America.

The system update brings the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. It also ships with improved textures for icons, a customizable dark mode with three adjustable levels.
Users may switch between Work and Life mode from the quick settings. OnePlus calls this the Work-Life Balance, it supports location and network based automatic mode switching.
The Gallery app has a new gesture, i.e. two-finger pinch gesture, which lets you switch between different layouts. The app will automatically crop the thumbnails based on the content. There are new always-on display styles in Canvas AOD, including new diverse lines, colors, brushes, strokes, and color adjustment. The face recognition algorithm has been improved for skin tones.
The Shelf in OxygenOS has new style options for cards for visibility and readability. Users can use the Earphone Control Card with their Bluetooth earbuds. Similarly, users can monitor their health using the OnePlus Watch Card. The OnePlus Scout option lets you search for apps, settings, media data quickly.
The firmware version number for the Android 12 Update for OnePlus 9 is LE2111_11.C.36 for users in India, and LE2115_11.C.36 for North America. The OnePlus 9 Pro’s firmware numbers are LE2121_11.C.36 and LE2125_11.C.36 for India and North America respectively.
If you have not received the notification for the OTA update, you can check for the update manually from the Settings, to see if it is available for download.
According to a screenshot from the Oxygen Updater app shared by a user on the OnePlus forums, the Android 12 Update for OnePlus 9 weighs about 4GB in size. The app seems to warn users that the update seems to be faulty, and that it does not work with 5G mobile networks.
The update will be released for users in Europe at a later time. There is no word yet about when the Android 12 Update for OnePlus 9R will be released.
