Google’s November 2026 Android security bulletin rates one Android Framework flaw Critical. Tracked as CVE-2026-58868, it is a remote code execution bug that needs no extra execution privileges. The fix only reaches your phone when its maker or carrier ships the November update. So the first thing to do is check your patch level.

What the November 2026 Android security bulletin says
Google published the bulletin on November 2 and revised it on November 6 with an updated issues list. CVE-2026-58868 sits in the Framework section, under Google reference A-486464711. It affects Android 14, 15, 16, 16 QPR2 and 17.
The bulletin’s Framework section adds one line that matters more than the CVE number:
User interaction is not needed for exploitation.
In other words, you would not have to tap, open or install anything for an attack to work. The bulletin does not say whether the flaw has been exploited. It also gives no per-flaw description beyond the section summary. The bulletin says AOSP source patches follow within 48 hours of publication.
Two patch levels: 2026-11-01 and 2026-11-05
Google split this month’s fixes across two security patch levels. The 2026-11-01 level covers Android platform issues. The 2026-11-05 level adds kernel and chipset fixes on top. Per the bulletin, a device at 2026-11-05 or later covers every issue in both sections.
How to check your Android security patch level
Google’s support page lists this path:
- Open your device’s Settings app.
- Tap About phone, or About tablet on a tablet.
- Tap Android version.
- Find the Android security update entry and read the date.
A date of November 5, 2026 or later means your device has both November patch levels. Google says most security patches install automatically. A phone showing an older date may simply not have been offered the update yet.
Where Pixel and Galaxy phones stand
As of November 9, Google’s Pixel security bulletin index still listed October 2026 as its latest entry. The Pixel November update had not been published at that check. We covered the wait in Pixel owners are still waiting on Google’s November 2026 update.
Neoteo reports that Samsung’s November patch began reaching the Galaxy S26, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 around November 4. Its report cites NPowerUser and is a single source. The report does not confirm a US rollout.
Other brands ship on their own schedules. Until your phone shows a November 2026 date or later, it does not have this fix. Our look at the Android SMS of Death flaw is another reminder of why that date matters.
