Order an iPhone Duo from Apple’s US online store now, and you are looking at a late January 2027 delivery. That is what The Verge and MacRumors reported from Apple’s store within hours of pre-orders opening on Friday, October 16.
Pre-orders went live at 8 a.m. ET, or 5 a.m. PT. MacRumors says delivery estimates jumped from October 23 into November within minutes. By 5:30 a.m. PT, the estimate had reached January 25.

How the iPhone Duo delivery dates moved
The Verge reported that delivery estimates crossed into 2027 less than an hour after orders opened. When it published, it saw late January dates for every configuration on Apple’s website.
9to5Mac described the same slide in stages. Estimates went from late October to November, then December, and finally January. MacRumors says Apple’s online store no longer offers any iPhone Duo delivery date in 2026.
We could not confirm those dates ourselves. Apple’s buy page still lists the Duo as available starting October 23. When we checked it without entering a ZIP code, it showed no estimated delivery date. So the January dates are the outlets’ reading of Apple’s store, not a figure Apple has published.
What Apple said, and what it left out
Apple has not given a reason for the slip. It did issue a short statement, as printed by CNBC:
We are working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers’ hands as quickly as possible, and we will continue accepting orders online
In the same statement, Apple called demand extraordinary. The statement contains no unit, order or demand figures to support that. There is also a plain gap for buyers. Apple’s page says the Duo is available from October 23, while the outlets report online orders landing in late January.
Why supply may stay tight
According to CNBC, IDC expects supply to be constrained at first. The firm points to the device’s complexity and Apple’s manufacturing and quality standards.
Counterpoint’s Tarun Pathak told CNBC that the firm expects initial demand to exceed supply. Counterpoint expects about 6 million units or fewer to be available in the near term.
Store pickup, carriers and other markets
Walk-in buyers face their own uncertainty. MacRumors says Apple hasn’t said whether stores will have walk-in stock on October 23. According to MacRumors, Apple’s website tells shoppers to check back on October 24 for availability.
The Verge expects Apple to keep some units for its stores, as it typically does. That is The Verge’s inference, not an Apple commitment. CNBC also reported that launch-day pickup inventory sold out quickly.
One carrier snapshot looked shorter. Verizon’s newsroom says the Duo hits its stores on Friday, October 23. Verizon’s Duo page showed a November 20 delivery date for a Star White unit. We saw that early on October 17, India time. The page didn’t show which storage size was selected, so treat it as a single snapshot that can change.
Outside the US, the wait may be longer. 9to5Mac reports that in some countries, including Brazil, estimated deliveries have already moved into early February. The January estimates come from Apple’s US store and may not match other markets.
If you’re ordering an iPhone Duo now
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB and goes up to $3,199 for 2TB. If you order online from Apple at this point, plan around a late January window rather than late October.
