Samsung’s October 2026 security update for its newest foldables has moved outside South Korea. The Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8 are now getting it in Europe and India. If you own one of the three in either region, the update is either waiting for you or close to it.

Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 models getting the update
- Galaxy Z Fold8: firmware F9763XXS3AZIJ, download size 537.17MB
- Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: firmware version ending in AZIJ, similar download size expected
- Galaxy Z Flip8: firmware version ending in AZIJ, similar download size expected
SamMobile does not list the full firmware strings for the Fold8 Ultra and the Flip8. The AZIJ suffix is the reliable marker to look for on those two.
What the patch actually fixes
Samsung’s own SMR-OCT-2026 bulletin breaks the contents into three groups. It does not publish one combined headline number. Here is what the bulletin itself lists.
- Google-sourced CVEs: 45 in total from the October 2026 Android Security Bulletin, split into 9 Critical, 33 High, and 3 Moderate
- Samsung Semiconductor CVEs: 4, all rated High
- Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures items: 27 SVE entries, which Samsung does not disclose individually in full
Those three groups are counted separately and should not be added into a single figure. SVE entries and CVEs are different things, and the bulletin does not state one combined total anywhere. You may see a single number quoted elsewhere for this patch. It does not come from Samsung’s bulletin.
Nine Critical-rated entries is reason enough to install this one promptly rather than dismissing the prompt for a fortnight.
Rollout timeline
This is a staged release rather than a single global push, following Samsung’s usual order.
- Around October 1 to 2: rollout begins in South Korea
- By October 7: expanded to Europe and India
- Other regions: as of October 7, no timing for the US or other markets has surfaced
If nothing has appeared on your phone yet, check manually from your software update settings instead of waiting on the notification. For context on how carrier-locked foldables have fared on a recent Samsung rollout, see our coverage of One UI 9 on carrier-locked Fold7 and Flip7 models.
Pixel owners are on the same monthly cycle, and Google’s October security patch for Pixel phones is also out. Both draw from the same October Android bulletin, which is why the Google-sourced CVE list overlaps.
