Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1 arrived for Pixel phones on October 2, and the device list tells the more interesting story. Google’s own eligibility page for this beta leaves out the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Both were still listed for Android 17 QPR1, per earlier coverage of that release. Only the Pixel 6a carries on from that generation.

Pixels dropped from the Android 17 QPR3 beta
These two devices are absent from Google’s published list for QPR3 Beta 1:
- Pixel 6
- Pixel 6 Pro
Both launched in October 2021. Losing beta access five years on is not shocking by itself. It is still worth noting for anyone using one of these phones today.
The practical read is this. Dropping off the beta track is usually the step that comes before dropping off the stable track. If your Pixel 6 is still on a supported stable build, enjoy it. Plan on this generation’s update story winding down rather than extending.
Pixels eligible for Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1
Google lists 23 devices. Grouped by series:
- Pixel 6 series: Pixel 6a
- Pixel 7 series: Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a
- Pixel 8 series: Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a
- Pixel 9 series: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a
- Pixel 10 series: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel 10a

Build numbers and what’s inside
There are two builds in this release. The Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL and 11 Pro Fold get DP11.260918.005. Every other eligible device gets DP11.260918.006. Both ship with the August 5, 2026 security patch level and Play Services 26.32.34.
The changelog is heavy on fixes rather than features. At least 20 issues have been addressed since QPR2. These are the ones most likely to matter day to day:
- Audio: audio-switching failures during playback, Bluetooth audio interruptions, MediaPlayer crashes on files with non-ASCII tags
- Unlocking: fingerprint-unlock freezes and crashes in Face Unlock settings
- Camera: wrong camera rotation in video calls on an external display, front-camera failures while screen recording
- Connectivity: eSIM profile problems and NFC service crashes
- Battery: drain linked to the “Flip to Shh” gesture
- Stability: app crashes when launching a foreground service
How to get it, and when stable arrives
If your device is on the list above, enrol through the Android Beta Program and the update will come over the air. You can also flash the OTA image manually instead of enrolling. The stable release of QPR3 is expected in early 2027.
One caveat before you enrol. Beta builds on a daily driver carry real risk. The fix list above exists because QPR2 shipped with those bugs in the first place. If you rely on your phone for payments or work, wait for stable.
