Two iOS 27 Features Won’t Be Ready for Monday’s Launch

Two features Apple showed off during the iOS 27 beta won’t make it into Monday’s public release. Messages conversation suggestions and one-tap automatic fixing of compromised passwords are both being pushed to a later update, even though both were working in beta builds.

What’s missing on launch day

The Messages feature uses Apple Intelligence to surface one-tap suggestions based on what’s being discussed in a conversation. If someone asks you to send a photo or complete a task, Messages is meant to recognize the request and suggest the relevant action or app. The Passwords feature uses Apple Intelligence together with Safari to detect and automatically fix compromised passwords in the background, without you having to change them manually.

Apple noted both delays on its iOS 27 page, as well as the iPadOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate pages, since both features are meant to work across all three platforms. Neither is confirmed for a specific future date, only for “a future software update.”

Why this matters beyond two missing features

iOS 27 launches publicly on Monday, September 14, and the timing already tells us something about when these features might actually show up. Apple is expected to ship iOS 27.1 before October 23, since the iPhone Duo launches that day and ships with iOS 27.1 preinstalled. That makes 27.1 the earliest realistic point for the delayed features to appear, though Apple hasn’t committed even to that.

This is the same pattern Apple intelligence-branded features have followed since their initial rollout: announce at launch, demo in beta, then quietly slip anything still unstable into a dot release. Anyone buying an iPhone specifically expecting either feature to work on day one of iOS 27 should hold off, or plan around waiting for the point update.

What still ships Monday

Everything else in iOS 27 that was in beta and not explicitly flagged as delayed is expected to arrive as planned on September 14, alongside iPadOS 27. Apple’s own feature pages remain the place to check for the asterisks marking anything else pushed to “later this year.”
