Scam Detection May Reach Galaxy S25 and Z Fold 7, Code Suggests

Google’s Scam Detection, the call-screening feature that listens for the patterns of a fraud call while it is happening, looks set to reach Galaxy phones that are already a generation or two old. Model strings found inside One UI 9 Beta 7 name the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z TriFold alongside the unannounced Galaxy S27 line — a list that, if it holds, would turn a feature that launched as a Pixel exclusive into something most recent Samsung flagship owners get without buying a new phone. Treat it as a rumour for now: this is code in a beta build, not a Samsung or Google announcement.

Which Galaxy phones the Scam Detection code names

The references are raw model numbers rather than marketing names, which is why the list reads as families rather than individual handsets. Grouped by series:

  • Galaxy S25 series — SM-S931, SM-S936, SM-S937, SM-S938
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7 — SM-F966
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7 — SM-F766
  • Galaxy Z TriFold — SM-F968
  • Galaxy S27 series — SM-S952, SM-S956, SM-S957, SM-S958

The older half of that list is the part worth caring about. Scam Detection arrived with the Pixel 9 as a Pixel-only feature, crossed to Samsung this year with the Galaxy S26 series, and reached the Galaxy Z8 foldables through Samsung’s own Phone app. On Android Authority’s account of where the feature stands today, everything before that — including 2025’s flagships, which are still well inside their support window — sits outside it. Google has been widening its fraud-protection net for a while, from the Fake Call Detection shipped in the June 2026 Android drop onwards, and older Samsung flagships have largely been on the outside of it. A phone bought eighteen months ago being handed a live fraud protection it did not ship with is the right direction of travel, and the opposite of the pattern where a security feature quietly becomes a reason to upgrade.

One thing the code does not settle is where it works. Model numbers say nothing about markets or supported languages, and Scam Detection’s availability has not tracked device support one-for-one, so an entry in this list is not by itself evidence that the feature will be switched on in a given country.

The Exynos line buried in the same code

A secondary detail sits alongside the device list: the code mentions s5e9975, the internal designation for the Exynos 2700, next to a Qualcomm part. Read at face value that points to Samsung sticking with a split chipset strategy for its 2027 flagships, with Exynos in some regions and Snapdragon in others. That is an inference from one string in a beta build rather than anything Samsung has said, and it is the kind of detail that hardens into “confirmed” through repetition. It is not.

What this is, and what it is not

Nothing about the feature’s design changes here — what is in play is only which handsets are permitted to run it.

The find comes from Android Authority’s own teardown of One UI 9 Beta 7, published as an Authority Insights exclusive by Aamir Siddiqui and AssembleDebug, and the outlet notes plainly that features predicted from code of this kind may never reach a public release. Neither Google nor Samsung has commented on it. If it does ship, the delivery vehicle would most plausibly be a One UI 9 update or a Phone app rollout rather than a separate announcement, so the practical advice is unglamorous: keep One UI and the Phone app current, and check the call-screening section of the Phone app’s settings after each.
