Poco X8 and X8 Power Land in India on September 4 With 10,000mAh

Poco has confirmed that the Poco X8 and X8 Power launch in India on September 4 at 12 PM, and it has led the teaser campaign with the batteries: 10,000mAh in the X8 Power and 9,000mAh in the standard X8. Both figures come from Poco India’s own posts, which makes them the first officially confirmed specs for either phone.

What Poco has actually confirmed

Very little beyond the date and the cells, which is deliberate — the company says more details are coming in the days before launch. The confirmed list is short:

  • Launch date — September 4, 2026, 12 PM IST, India
  • Poco X8 Power — 10,000mAh battery, faux-leather rear panel
  • Poco X8 — 9,000mAh battery

Poco’s marketing puts numbers on what those batteries mean — 3.5 days for the X8 Power, 3.2 days for the X8. Those are the company’s own endurance claims with no stated test conditions attached, so treat them as advertising rather than a measured figure until reviewers get the phones. A 10,000mAh cell is genuinely enormous by phone standards regardless; the question is what it costs in thickness and weight, which Poco has not disclosed.

The 10,000mAh number lines up with the India Redmi leak

This is the part worth pausing on for anyone who has been following the Redmi Note 17 series. Leaks indicate the X8 is a rebranded Redmi Note 17 Pro and the X8 Power a rebadged Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, with minor changes between the Poco and Redmi versions.

When Xiaomi took the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max global on August 27, we reported that the battery capacity changes by region — the global model carries a 9,210mAh cell while the Japanese version has 10,000mAh, despite Xiaomi’s campaign artwork leading with the bigger number everywhere. Tipster reporting at the time suggested the India-bound versions would get the larger cells: 10,000mAh on the Pro Max, 9,000mAh on the Pro.

Poco confirming exactly 10,000mAh and 9,000mAh for its India launch is the first set of official figures consistent with that split. If the rebadge holds, buyers in India are getting the higher-capacity configuration rather than the global 9,210mAh one — a rare case where a regional variant is the better hardware.

Expected specifications, and what is not confirmed

Everything below is leak-level. Poco has not published a spec sheet, and these figures come from pre-launch reporting rather than the company:

  • Poco X8 — 6.83-inch display, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 50MP main camera
  • Poco X8 Power — 6.83-inch display, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5

Two chipsets from different tiers across a pair of phones launching on the same day is worth noting: the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 in the higher-end X8 Power is the newer and more capable part, so the gap between these two is not just battery size. No pricing has been announced for either model, and the software version has not been stated — the Redmi counterparts ship on HyperOS 3 built on Android 16 rather than Android 17, which would leave a September 2026 launch already a generation behind on its Android base.
