The free Google AI Pro subscription bundled with the Pixel 11 Pro now runs for six months, not the twelve months Google gave Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro buyers. The headline number is on the Pixel 11 Pro store page — “Google Pixel 11 Pro comes with 6 months of Google AI Pro on us ($119 value)” — but the terms behind that line are the part worth reading before you buy.
What Google’s own Pixel 11 Pro AI Pro terms actually say
The offer footnote on Google’s US store page is unusually specific, and it settles several things the headline does not. It puts the real figure at $119.94 — six months at the $19.99 monthly rate — and names exactly three eligible devices: the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. It is a US-only offer, restricted to residents aged 18 or over, redeemable up to 31 October 2027.
Two clauses matter more than the duration. The first is the billing mechanic, in Google’s own words in the same footnote:
Valid form of payment required at sign-up, but you will not be charged until the trial period expires.
In other words, the card goes on file on day one and the $19.99 charge starts automatically at month seven unless you cancel. That is a shorter runway to a decision you have to actively make — and Google has halved the window in which you would think to make it.
The second is the exclusion list. The terms rule out Google One users already subscribed to an add-on, users on a higher-tier plan than the one being offered, family-plan members who are not the plan manager, and anyone subscribed through a third party or affiliate. If you already pay Google for storage in most of those ways, the “$119 value” advertised on the product page is not value you can collect.
Six months, twelve months, and what the base Pixel 11 gets
For context on the cut: the Pixel 9 Pro shipped with twelve months of what was then called Google One AI Premium, and the Pixel 10 Pro carried twelve months of Google AI Pro under its current name. The Pixel 11 Pro halves that.
It is not a straight halving of everything, though, and it is worth being accurate about it. The bundled tier now includes 5TB of Drive storage, along with Google Health Premium and higher Gemini usage limits; Android Police notes that earlier Pixel bundles carried 2TB. The perk is richer per month and runs for half as long — and the storage upgrade is the part that quietly raises the cost of walking away, since 5TB of accumulated backups is harder to climb down from than a smaller allowance.
The base Pixel 11 is the sharper change. Google’s AI Pro offer terms name only the three Pro models, and the standard Pixel 11’s store page carries no AI Pro offer or footnote at all. 9to5Google, which reported the change first, says Google has dropped the free plan for the base model entirely; on the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10, non-Pro buyers got six months of Google One Premium, which did not include the Gemini tier. Nothing official explains the decision, and none of the reporting cites a Google statement explaining the cut.
What it means if you are choosing a Pixel 11
Practically, the AI bundle is no longer a meaningful reason to stretch to a Pro. Six months of a subscription you may not keep is worth roughly $120 at list price, and Google sells a cheaper AI Plus tier for anyone who wants storage without the top-tier Gemini limits — Android Police puts it at 400GB for $5 a month. Read it alongside the Pixel 11 Pro’s price increase and the fine print on this year’s carrier deals: the sticker price went up, the bundled perk got shorter, and the auto-renewal arrives sooner.
If you do buy a Pro, the practical step is to note the date six months out the day you activate, and decide then rather than let the first $19.99 charge make the decision for you.
